Services

Library Orientation Tours

Library orientation tours are available by request.  Tours average half an hour and focus on orienting students to the library's physical collection as well as providing an overview of the library's on-line resources.

Research Instruction

Research instruction is available by request and can take place in the classroom or at the library.  Classes typically average an hour.  Advance copies of research assignments and syllabi are appreciated.

Research Guides

Library research guides for academic programs and specific topics are available on the library's webpage. Faculty can request the development of additional guides and/or modifications to existing guides by calling (409)984-6216.

Course Reserves

Faculty are encouraged to place material on reserve for their classes. 

  • Faculty can provide reserve material to staff at the Circulation Department with detail instructions.
  • Faculty can request the purchase of material for inclusion within the "Reserve Collection".  
    • Reserve material request should be submitted as soon as possible and prior to the start of the semester.

Title Requests

Faculty requests for book orders are welcomed. Print and non-print acquisitions are reviewed and orders placed. Faculty will be notified when materials are received. Existing collections, usage patterns and costs affect purchase decisions.

Loan Period - Faculty
Three (3) Months + five (5) day grace period.

*Faculty are authorized to borrow "Reference" titles.

**A LSCPA I.D. will authorize borrowing privileges at all Lamar libraries and the Port Arthur Public Library.  
Renewals - Faculty

Borrowed titles can be renewed, in most circumstances, a maximum of three (3) times. 

Exception: A title contains a "hold". 

How to request a renewal:

1. In-Person - Request a renewal in person at the Circulation Desk.

2. Telephone - Request a renewal by calling the Circulation Desk at (409) 984-6218. 

3. On-Line - Click "Online Renewal Request". 

Holds - Faculty
A title, which is currently borrowed, can be placed on hold. You will be notified when the title is available. 

How to place a hold on a title: 

1. In-Person - Request to place a title on "hold" at the Circulation Desk.

2. On-Line - Click "Hold Request". 

Lost/Damaged Item Fines - Faculty
